ππ Food Waste Action Week at Great Wyrley Academy ππ
This week marks Food Waste Action Week (9β15 March), encouraging us all to make our food go βfurther.β Itβs a message that feels especially important as we prepare to open our new Community Fridge at TheHub@Wyrley on our school site.
Every year in the UK, millions of tonnes of perfectly good food are thrown away. By reducing food waste, we can save money, support our community and protect our planet.
Our upcoming Community Fridge, run in partnership with Helping Hearts Food Bank, will help rescue surplus food and make it available to the local community β ensuring good food ends up on plates, not in bins.
While we prepare for the launch, there are small steps everyone can take at home:
βοΈ Check dates β βbest beforeβ is about quality, not safety
βοΈ Freeze leftovers to use later
βοΈ Plan meals to avoid over-buying
Keep an eye on our page for more updates about TheHub@Wyrley Community Fridge opening soon!
