Students at Great Wyrley Academy in South Staffordshire Celebrate a Strong Set of GCSE Results

Students at Great Wyrley Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results. 

After much hard work studying and preparing, students at the school, which is part of Windsor Academy Trust, have collected the qualifications that will enable them to progress to sixth form, college, apprenticeships and other chosen destinations. 

The school is celebrating the achievements of its Year 11 cohort, with two-thirds of students securing a standard pass of grade 4 or above in both English and mathematics. More than one in three students achieved a strong pass of grade 5 or above across both subjects. 

English was a particular strength, with 76% of students achieving a standard pass of grade 4. Students also achieved successes across a broad range of academic, technical and vocational courses, reflecting the varied talents, interests and aspirations of the cohort. 

Great Wyrley Academy students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions, with many remaining at the school’s Aspire Sixth Form to study for A Levels and vocational qualifications. 

While all students have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:

  • Jessica Chen received 3 grade 9’s including Maths and English and  4 grade 8’s and 2 Distinctions 

  • Ahmed Abdelhadi who received a grade 9 in English and and a grade 8 in Spanish 

Collecting GCSE results today, Phoebe Street said:

 

“All the hard work paid off, I am more than pleased with these results that mean I can now go onto my college course”
