Y9 History visit to Great Wyrley Memorial Gardens for Remembrance

As part of our 2023 Remembrance commemorations at GWA, Y9 walked to the Great Wyrley Memorial Gardens to reflect upon how we remember in our local area.

They were also able to engage in activities which involved them in investigating the site as a local focus for remembering the sacrifices made by our community in the conflicts of the modern world from the Great War of 1914-1919 and right up to those made by our NHS and Care workers in very recent years.

This will complement their current studies into the Battle of the Somme in history and also their work on Citizenship in their PSHE programme of study. Mrs Broad Wood and the team were incredibly impressed by the conduct of all those who took part in this exercise. They were a credit to the school, their families and local community.
