Aston University visit for a Salters Science Festival

Four pupils from year 10 had the opportunity to go to Aston
University for a Salters science festival. They listened to guest speakers who
are researching novel ways to produce green energy. The pupils then
quizzed them on green solutions and sustainability. This was followed by
some time in the laboratory looking at making drugs from natural materials.
They synthesised aspirin from willow bark derivative. The final activity was
quizzing a panel of Aston alumni on how they chose subjects, career paths
and why they considered chemistry. Their questions were insightful and thought provoking.

Our students were a credit to our school. Well done!!
