GWA Remembrance Day

Today, at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month we gathered as a school to commemorate and come together as a community in an act of collective remembrance.  

The students and staff at Great Wyrley Academy stood in solemn and respectful silence to remember the great sacrifices made by our wider community in the fields of conflict at home and abroad since the first act of remembrance in the years immediately following the armistice at the end of the Great War.  

We stood together for the full two minutes which began and ended with the poignancy of the Last Post and the Reveille played so beautifully across the silence by Mr Vaughan Smith. This year as every year Great Wyrley Academy remembers.
