At Great Wyrley Academy, we support our students with a structured careers curriculum featuring a range of experiences and tools designed to provide them with the information required for their future careers. Independent and impartial guidance is provided by our Careers Advisor Ms Flint.

Great Wyrley has the following objectives in line with the Gatsby Eight Benchmarks for Careers Excellence when delivering the careers programme in school. We assess the impact of our Careers programme against these benchmarks using the Compass+ tool.

As part of this, we work with a number of employers from a variety of industries. It is our aim to provide encounters with employers and employees and experiences of the workplace, as set out in the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Great Wyrley Academy and Sixth Form use the Gatsby 8 Benchmarks to inform the provision of Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG) delivered. As part of our commitment to informing students of the full range of learning and training routes available we consider requests from training providers, vocational education routes and apprenticeship providers to speak to students and will also approach these partners ourselves when planning organising key CEIAG events throughout the Academy year.
A number of opportunities exist within the CEIAG programme which may be suitable for providers to visit the Academy to speak to students. Please contact the Academy for more information on this.
All requests should be emailed at least 6 weeks in advance of an expected date for the planned session.
