Remote Learning
At Great Wyrley, we believe face-to-face education is the priority for all pupils. Remote learning is considered a last resort, short-term measure when attendance is genuinely impossible.
Remote learning, which also encompasses our regular school homework provision, is an integral part of our curriculum. It is designed to be high quality and ambitious, enhancing learning, improving achievement, and developing students' essential study skills. It is independent study that is not directly supervised by a teacher and allows students to become self-regulated, independent learners.
Remote Education in Cases of Absence
Remote education is provided when a pupil is unable to attend school but is otherwise well enough to learn. This includes short-term infectious illnesses, recovery from an injury/operation, or periods of school closure (e.g., severe weather).
1. Accessing the Remote Curriculum
To ensure continuity and a curriculum equivalent in length to in-school teaching (a minimum of 5 hours per day is expected for KS3 and KS4), pupils will follow these steps:
2. Ensuring Equal Access and Provision
